National Night Out is a nationwide event that
encourages citizens to participate in the prevention
of crime. To substantially reduce crime, prevention
is the key, as it can prohibit an offender from
attempting a criminal act. The Campton Hills Police
Department has focused on crime prevention as a
primary service we provide. We have contacted many
residents about open garage doors after dark and
have provided thousands of vacation checks.
At our National Night Out event, I am pleased to
announce that we will provide Child ID's to those
who wish to participate. The Child ID system
involves CHPD taking a photo of your child and a
thumb print and then providing the parent with the
identification card. If the child is reported
missing, the parent can provide the card to the
responding officer with important information. In
addition, we will have CHPD squad cars available for
residents to inspect and sit in. The Campton Hills
Police have invited the Kane County Forest
Preserve's Mounted Rangers and their horses. The
Rangers serve an important purpose in the searching
of remote areas that prove difficult on foot. Forest
Preserve officers will also be staging a bicycle
safety course for children to participate in.
Additionally, the Midwest K-9 Rescue Services will
be on hand with several of their rescue dogs. There
will also be free food and many other activities at
the event.
We again will be selling items for Special
Olympics. The Kane County Chiefs of Police strongly
participate in this fundraising. We will be selling
Harley Davidson raffle tickets at $10.00 each,
T-Shirts at $15.00, hats for $10.00, and pins for
$5.00. We have all these for sale at CHPD and are
available anytime.
Stop by and meet your Campton Hills Police Dept.
officers.
