Campton Hills Police
3rd Annual Citizen’s Police Academy

The Campton Hills Police Department will be hosting its 3rd annual Citizen’s Police Academy starting on Monday, January 15, 2018. The class will run for 10 weeks from 6:30-9:00 pm, and will be held at the Fox Mill Homeowners Association clubhouse. Currently there are six open spots in the class for participants who want to enroll. If interested, please call Chief Dan Hoffman at 630-584-4242 or email Chief Hoffman at dhoffman@villageofcamptonhills.org. The deadline is December 16, 2017.

The Citizen Police Academy is a ten (10) week program designed to give the participants a working knowledge of the Campton Hills Police Department and police work in general. The Academy consists of a series of interactive classes held once a week for approximately two hours. There is no cost to participate. Background checks will be conducted on each applicant.  Individuals who apply for the Citizen’s Police Academy must be at least 21 years of age and pass a background check. Applicants must live in the Village of Campton Hills, work in the Village, or own property in the Village. A brochure and application for the Academy is available by clicking http://www.villageofcamptonhills.org/2226/Citizen-Police-Academy.

Community Oriented Policing plays an important and vital role in reducing crime. The Campton Hills Police Department instituted the Citizen’s Police Academy to improve communication with our residents and obtain citizen input and support throughout the Village. It is hoped that our graduates will become partners with us in identifying problems and solutions to issues that are affecting our community. Graduates will gain knowledge that they can implement to enhance the quality of life in their respective neighborhoods. The goal of the Citizen Police Academy is to help the residents of the Village better understand how policing is conducted in their community. It is hoped that all graduates of the Academy will get to know more about the men and women who are protecting their community and learn how they make the decisions they do while performing their duty.

Some of the topics include:

  • Overview of the Department
  • Firearms Safety

Lights Recycling

Holiday Lights
3rd Annual Recycling

Are you finding your holiday lights have lost their twinkle? Year after year we find ourselves testing bulbs and replacing fuses, and when that doesn’t work, in the garbage the lights go.

In 2015, Village of Campton Hills residents brought in 259 pounds of broken light strands for recycling; 2016, we collected 332 pounds. For our 3rd annual holiday lights recycling program, our goal is to recycle over 400 lbs of holiday lights. Please help us get the word out regarding this recycling effort to help get another recyclable commodity out of the land fills.

Lights accepted include: Italian mini-lights, traditional lights, extension cords, rope lights, LED lights. Lights can be in working or non-working condition, from any holiday!

Please bring your lights for recycling to Village Hall during the hours of 9-4, Monday thru Friday. We will continue to collect lights into early January. We have partnered once again with Elgin Recycling.

 2017 TOYS FOR TOTS”
 Drop off location

The Campton Hills Police Department is announcing that it is again partnering with the United States Marine Corps in the “TOYS FOR TOTS” program.  TOYS FOR TOTS mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute them as Christmas gifts to needy children.  As stated on the TOYS FOR TOTS website “the primary goal of TOYS FOR TOTS is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders”.  The Campton Hills Police Department is proud to be a sponsor of this program and will be a drop off point for these toys. The residents of Campton Hills have been very generous in their giving in the past and we are hoping your generosity continues throughout this holiday season.  Anyone wishing to donate to this program may drop off unwrapped new toys by December 8, 2017 at:
