Steven Millar
New Police Chief

The Village of Campton Hills is pleased to announce Steven M. Millar as its next Chief of Police, taking over for Chief Dan Hoffman who retired May 31, 2018.  Officer Millar, who is a current full time Campton Hills Police Officer, was chosen from an applicant pool of 36 candidates.  Officer Millar has been with the Village for five years.  Before joining Campton Hills, he served 25 years as a Police Officer for the Village of Streamwood.  Officer Millar retired from Streamwood in October 2013.

Officer Millar’s responsibilities at Streamwood included D.A.R.E. Officer, Juvenile Officer, Accident Reconstructionist, Court Liaison, Crime Prevention, Community Relations Officer and Investigator.  Officer Millar was also selected in 1996 to supervise a 62-man team responsible for providing security at several of the Atlanta Olympic Games locations.
Since joining Campton Hills, Officer Millar has worked as a Too Good for Drugs (TGFD) Instructor and has been instrumental in developing the village’s citizen police academy program.

Officer Millar has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Benedictine University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

“The Village is fortunate to be able to promote an officer with Steve Millar’s qualification and experience.  Not only does he have tremendous amount of law enforcement experience having worked in a larger community and department, but his integrity is second to none and his people skills are exceptional.” stated Village President Harry Blecker.

Balmoral Restaurant

Balmoral Restaurant Set to Open Doors on June 4. High-Concept Grand Scottish Fare Comes to Campton Hills.

The buzz has lingered for months, but the wait is finally over. Balmoral Restaurant,
featuring Grand Scottish Fare™ that will please most any palette, is quietly opening its doors at 11am on June 4 in Campton Square.

Located on Illinois Route 64 just east of LaFox Road, Balmoral Restaurant will begin serving
a variety of entrées from the full menu throughout June, as Executive Chef Ryan Kacenjar
and Head Chef Franklin Perdue determine the final rotation of entrees for the permanent

Balmoral Restaurant is one of only a handful of high-concept Scottish restaurants in the
United States, and the first to open in the Chicagoland area in more than three decades. It is the vision of Colin Smith, a restaurateur from the Old Country, born in Perthshire, Scotland, who cut his teeth at many restaurants in Scotland and England before becoming an owner of restaurants himself.

In 2013, Colin visited one of Scotland’s most famous estates, Balmoral Castle, and was
inspired by the golden cutlery, fine crystal and grand place settings at which the royalty
would dine. He decided then to bring that level of dining experience to a broader audience in the States.

A formal grand opening is set for July 9. Additional information will be forthcoming. For
more information, please visit or – or call 331-901-5224.
