Seats are still available for the Kane County Health Department’s free, super-popular Well and Septic Seminar for Homeowners.

The event has become so well attended that organizers have added a second session for Sept. 20 at the University of Illinois Extension Office, 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.

Village Board Election


The Village of Campton Hills Board will have seats up for election on February 26, 2019.

Individuals interested in running for a seat on the Board can pick up petitions and forms at Village Hall, 40W270 LaFox Road, Ste. B, Campton Hills, IL  between the hours of 9:00 AM TO 4:00 PM, MONDAY – FRIDAY,  beginning August 28, 2018.

The Village Board consists of seven individuals who are elected by the community to represent the community’s best interests. The charge of the Board is to set policies that will guide the Village. Village President, Trustees and Clerk serve a four-year term and compensation is set by Village Code.

IPAWS National Test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)


The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on September 20, 2018. The WEA portion of the test commences at 2:18 p.m. EDT, and the EAS portion follows at 2:20 p.m. EDT. The test will assess the operational readiness of the infrastructure for distribution of a national message and determine whether improvements are needed.

Kane County Sheriff’s Office

Over-the-Counter/ Prescription Drug Drop-off box 


The Kane County Sheriff’s Office accepts unused medication from residents. AnOver-the-Counter/ Prescription Drug Drop-off box is located in the lobby of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office at 37W755 Rte 38, St. Charles, IL,Suite “A”, from 8:00AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday.

Please follow these instructions for Safe Disposal of Needles:

  1. Use a puncture-proof sharps container which can be purchased at pharmacies. Alternatively hard plastic household containers, which should be unbreakable and puncture resistant, may be used. We recommend a laundry detergent bottle. No milk jugs or coffee cans.
  2. Sharps should be placed in the sharps container immediately after use.
  3. Put sharps in point-first.
  4. Store sharps in closed container with the cap screwed on until disposal.
  5. Containers more than half-full should be disposed of. Do not cram them full.
  6. Clearly label container “SHARPS, DO NOT RECYCLE” with a bold marker.
  7. When the container is half full, tape lid on securely with duct tape and place in trash
