4th of July
I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day. I hope you are able to spend time with your family and loved ones.
This is a time for celebrating, but please do so in a manner that keeps everyone safe.
The Campton Hills Police Department is requesting the community's assistance in refraining from possessing, using or setting off illegal fireworks during the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
Fireworks can be extremely dangerous and are illegal in Illinois and the Village of Campton Hills.
Campton Hills police will be proactively enforcing fireworks laws this year. Any individual using professional-grade fireworks or any other fireworks in a dangerous manner toward other people or other people's property will be cited under the Village of Campton Hills’ fireworks ordinance.
"The violation of the pyrotechnic use act, 425 Illinois Compiled Statutes 35/0.01 et seq., including the possession, sale, and use of fireworks in the village, except as expressly authorized by the village board for a community event. (Ord. O-15-08, 6-9-2015)"
Anyone previously cited under the village's fireworks ordinance could possibly be charged with a Class A Misdemeanor if they again violate the ordinance.
This Independence Day, take a step back and cherish your life and the country you live in while appreciating the sacrifices people made to give us independence today.
