As of January 1, 2020, Recreational Cannabis will be legal for the consumption and possession of marijuana in Illinois. The Village Board is currently considering regulations for Recreational Cannabis Businesses within the community. These regulations will affect both the potential to grow Cannabis products in the Village and/or the retail sale of Cannabis for recreational use. The Act also preserves local zoning authority and directly authorizes municipalities to prohibit (opt-out) or significantly limit the location of cannabis businesses by ordinance.
Please note that the Village Board will be considering an ordinance to prohibit Adult-Use Cannabis Businesses within the Village at it's October 15, 2019 meeting.
The Illinois Municipal League (IML) has developed a factsheet regarding Adult-Use Cannabis that is linked here. This fact sheet discusses the regulations available for Illinois municipalities.
For the past several weeks the Village Board has asked residents for feedback and comments about how the Village should regulate Adult-Use Recreational Cannabis.
If you have thoughts on these please, attend the October 15, 2019, Village Board meeting, contact the Village via email to email@example.com, by phone at (630) 584-5700, or by mail to the Village Manager’s Office, 40W270 LaFox Road, Suite B, Campton Hills, 60175-7624
